This article explores how recent developments in cognitive science—embodied cognition and Predictive Processing (PP)—can deepen our understanding of cinematic aesthetics. Drawing on image schemas and the brain’s predictive mechanisms, it bridges theories of perception with narrative art, from painting to film, showing how cinema engages our inferential mind through formal design and sensory patterning.
